Last week we went to Manchester to have a look around again. The weather was excellent (sunny but cool enough for walking around). The plan was to have a look around Manchester and the outskirts to get an idea of what's there. It was a really nice trip I must admit. It was pretty good to get a feel for the place and get to know the city a little. We did some nice shopping and had some great pub meals too. I think Manchester might be growing on me.
The neighborhoods that we can afford to live in unfortunately just looked a little gloomy, so at times I felt a bit glum. I worry that not feeling at home might make it a lot harder to settle in the UK. The neighborhood I live in in Rotterdam is very green. Lots of trees and parks and ducks around. Plus it's a 15 minute bike ride to the city. Excellent. And of course my friends and family all live over here.
Then again, I worry easily. I'm sure there will be nice affordable areas in and around Manchester (any advice anyone?) and if not, that it will only be a matter time before I do get used to living there. I will definitely work hard to settle in as soon as possible. And I am also looking forward to a new adventure.
For now I will be (mindfully 🙂) enjoying the easy bike riding a little bit more. Even on the rainy
days.
(This is one of the good reasons to move to the UK. Warm cookie dough sandwich with salted caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. Yummm...) 🙂
